Stage 08 · TestFlight

From green tests to TestFlight, with your yes

Signing, archive, export and upload run end to end in one step. It will not start until the Maestro smoke flows pass (a check you can switch off in the run options), and it never submits for review.

The job it replaces

Hours of busywork, gone

Doing it by hand

  • Certificates and profiles that expire or go missing
  • An archive that builds on one Mac and not on the next
  • Uploading by hand and waiting to learn it failed

With AppFactory

  • A distribution certificate in a temporary keychain
  • App Store profiles created for the app and its extensions
  • Archive, export and upload in one step
  • A build waiting for your testers

What the agent does

Step by step

  1. Signing

A distribution certificate is created and installed into a temporary keychain, and an App Store provisioning profile is created for the app and every extension.

  2. Archive and export

An archive for a generic iOS device, then an export to an .ipa signed with those profiles.

  3. Ship

The whole chain in one step, uploaded to TestFlight with the asc CLI. It refuses unless the Maestro smoke flows passed and the App ID capabilities exist.

  4. Run unattended, stop safely

Each stage closes only through its gate. A failed gate is retried with a different approach; when its retries run out, the run stops and leaves a note that says what you need to do.

What you get

At the end of this stage

  • A signed build in TestFlight
  • A final report of what is ready and what is left for you

How the approval gate works

  • With approvals on (the default), a gated tool called without approval does not run. It writes a pending request and stops.
  • You run appfactory approve with the request id in your own terminal. The code never reaches the agent, the approval matches the exact arguments and it expires in 30 minutes.
  • App Store submission needs your approval even when approvals are turned off, and a first subscription is always submitted by you in App Store Connect.
